ほ、欲しい ：）iPod＋スマートフォンは事前情報通りだけど、OS Xが動くのはおもしろいね？デザインもさすがに洗練されているし、これならGSMでも遊べそう。サイズはTreo 750を薄型にした感じだが液晶は3.5インチ480x320。価格はCingular2年契約の場合、4GBモデル499ドル、8GBが599ドル、北米で6月発売。ヨーロッパ・アジアは後回し。
センサーにより、ランドスケープとポートレート画面が自動で切り替わり、タッチパネルも自動で無効になったり、輝度・バックライトもON/OFFするらしい。2メガピクセルカメラ、115 x 61 x 11.6mm、135g、WiFi、Bluetooth 2.0。ブラウザはSafariで、Google Mapsも動くとのこと。バッテリーは連続通話/動画/ブラウズ5時間、音楽再生16時間。Steve Jobs氏もキラーアプリは「通話」と言っているので、本当は携帯としても使いたいところだ。
■社名から「コンピュータ」外す
米アップル・コンピュータのスティーブ・ジョブスＣＥＯ（最高経営責任者）は９日、携帯電話ビジネスへの参入を明らかにするとともに、同社が消費者向け電機製品の比率を高めていることを反映し、社名を単に「アップル」と改称することを発表した。
iPhoneはMac OS Xのサブセット版を基盤とするスマートフォンで、携帯電話の基本機能に加え、Mac OS Xの基本的なアプリケーションが動作可能。WebブラウザのSafariや、米Yahoo!のIMAP4メールサービスに対応したメールクライアントも搭載する。SafariはMacやPCのブックマークと同期できる。このほか、Mac OS Xの特徴的な機能の1つであるウィジェットも動作可能。メモ、アドレスブック、カレンダーも動作し、完全なマルチタスキングが可能。
さすがに今回のMacworldの目玉展示だけに、iPhoneの周囲には幾重にも人垣ができており、近づくことすらままならない状況だったが、人波をかき分けて、回転しているiPhoneの外観を撮影してきた。
ジョブズ氏の基調講演が終わった直後、会場にはプレスに混じってソフトバンク社長の孫正義氏の姿も。ソフトバンクモバイル向けの端末として、3G版のiPhoneの開発を依頼していたりするのだろうか？
